| Abstract | This paper addresses three concerns in which both churches and schools have a continuing interest. The first pertains to the nature of professional status and the struggle of both the ministry and of education to gain it. Problems involved in assuming the same are delineated. The second concern deals with economic issues that create difficulties for churches and schools in carrying out their specific purposes. The third involves the two philosophical concerns of change and effectiveness in teaching and their implications for both schools and churches. A conclusion follows which stresses the existence of these concerns and the challenge to confront them. (Author) |
