Abstract | The SACI project in Brazil has as a main target the country's primary teachers. The SACI Project objectives are: (1) to test the efficiency of an educational program using audiovisual media (particularly television, radio, and slow scan) at the primary level; (2) to develop television production techniques; (3) to train teachers in the utilization of audiovisual media equipment; (4) to offer better educational opportunities; (5) to develop and improve school curriculum through formative evaluation; (6) to analyze project results; and (7) to verify the "degree of acceptance" of technology in the school system. The four year experiment (1972-1976) encompasses 150 of Rio Grande do Norte counties and will reach 2,053 of the 3,439 public schools existing in the state. To test the effectiveness of technologies applied to education, the experiment includes a comparative analysis between the technological system and the traditional system. This document describes the systems analysis approach to SACI as well as a training program which will provide future manpower. (WCM) |
