AbstractAccountability as applied to the educational process is the ability to demonstrate cost effectiveness in meeting predetermined educational philosophy and goals in various contexts. The book addresses itself to the development and utilization of a system of accountability for occupational education because that area lends itself more easily to the application of techniques of accountability by the use of precise measurable objectives than do other areas. In the first chapter, fifteen goals for the accountability system are proposed. Chapter 2 instructs the reader in how to prepare statements of educational philosophy, goals, and objectives. The third chapter discusses six different methods of instructional output for occupational education. Familiarization with six support functions for vocational instruction and with measurable objectives for each function is the objective of Chapter 4. Chapter 5 discusses the appropriateness of the accountability model as a topic for an inservice training program. Constraints are the concern of Chapter 6, and the educational audit is the focus of Chapter 7. The concluding chapter relates accountability to planning, programing, and budgeting. Each chapter begins with a statement of chapter objectives and concludes with a summary and check-up activity. (AG)
