| Abstract | The purpose of this ongoing project is to provide financial aid administrators with a description of the College Investment Decision Study, while placing it in perspective in relation to the objectives of other recent microeconomic surveys: Project Talent, National Longitudinal Study, Thorndike-NBER Panel, PSAT Study, SCOPE Study, and Growth Study. Expected earnings, aspirations, expenses at college, family income and assets, and college choice are among the topics explored. Comparison of key characteristics of the U.S. population with those of the six other surveys and the 2,693 students studied is presented in table form. The Family Financial Statement and questionnaire are included. Appendixes cover: student and family demographic data; aspirations, plans, and expectations; college institutional data; student expenditures at college; sources of funds; family income and assets; and family medical information.
