Abstract	Dropout-prone students at two Oakland high schools were identified and divided into control and experimental groups at both schools. Experimental group students received special counseling attention during the year. Attempts were made at providing them with part-time jobs. No significant differences in dropout rates between the experimental and control groups as a whole were found. At one school experimental group boys had a significantly lower dropout rate than control group boys; at the other school a non-significant difference in the opposite direction was found. Planning and supervisory problems may have limited the effectiveness of the program and certainly reduced its value for providing research information. (Author/CG)
