Abstract	Economic problems in rural and urban settings are discussed in this book. Central cities, suburbs, and rural areas are examined with particular emphasis on problems and opportunities in the South and in the Appalachian region. The regional commissions (the Ozarks Region, New England, etc.) and the role of the Economic Development Administration are also discussed. In addition, economic conditions of American Indians and Mexican Americans are explored to show how general economic processes affect members of minority groups. Other areas covered in this book include the industrialization of rural America, urban policy in a mobile society, and labor mobility. A selected bibliography and an index of names are appended. (PS)
