| Abstract | As stated, this Indian-prepared document deals with relations between Washington State and her Indian citizens (estimated to be over 25,000) and contains Indian thinking, views, and opinions. The 14 chapters deal with such topics as national Indian policy, the cultural clash, jurisdiction on the reservation, zoning on the reservation, tribal fishing rights, Indian water rights, employment and economics on the reservation, public assistance, health, education, and housing. Incorporated in most of the chapters are recommendations of the Indian Affairs Task Force, a joint task force of the Governor's Advisory Council on Urban Affairs and the Governor's Indian Advisory Committee. The appendixes include discussions of tribal sovereignty, Indian citizenship, and taxation. Also appended are excerpts from the Treaty of Point Elliott (1855), Task Force legislative proposals, Federal and state Indian legislation, and lists of tribal leaders and Indian organizations.
