| Abstract | Every social studies teacher must consciously move to relate his course to the value dilemmas of youth and the value-laden issues of our time. A variety of writings by youth have been included to serve as source materials for classroom teachers and to provide significant insights into the values of youth. The section, Values in the Classroom: Instructional Guidelines for Teachers, contains selections from: The Teacher's Role in Value Issues by Fred M. Newman: Seven Value-Clarifying Strategies for Teachers by Sidney B. Simon; Unit Outline and Descriptions of Teaching Materials by Donald W. Oliver and James P. Shaver; and, Values in the Classroom by Frederick R. Smith and C. Benjamin Cox. A selected bibliography, list of films, and practical learning activities conclude the pamphlet. (VLW) |
