Abstract | This report is one of a series on the results of studies conducted with the aim of understanding and assisting culturally disadvantaged pupils in the Israeli school system. A brief educational history of the country and the theoretical basis of the research introduces this report. A detailed description of the socioeconomic background of students is given through data analysis, as well as is an analysis of student success in secondary schools. Findings indicate that the State of Israel has remained consistent in striving toward defined goals by absorbing a "culturally disadvantaged" population, using the criteria of ethnic origin and social characteristics.
