AbstractSome 97 families (having 500 children) who live in the Louise-Midnight area of Mississippi were interviewed for this study conducted in 1968. The 45-minute interviews were taped, and excerpts from the tapes serve as starting points for disussions in the document on areas such as employment, food habits, health and health care, political climate, housing, entertainment, and church habits. It is noted that the average family size was 7.1 persons, with an average family income of $1538 per year. Approximately 1 out of every 37 families, white and black, in Humphreys County was included. Where the sample was large enough, the results are given in percentage in the footnotes. A section devoted to profiles of some of the people is included. (LS)
