Abstract | Stated in this document are the principal economic, sociological, and educational references relating to the planning procedures, as well as findings, conclusions, and recommendations for activities of the Leflore County, Mississippi Project funded under Title III of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act. The project's objective was to plan educational solutions for problems caused by technological and social displacement of Negro families in the Deep South. Period of operations extended from July 1967 through December 1968. Chapter discussions include (1) background of the planning study, with 6 tables related to population data and socioeconomic factors in the county; (2) analysis of consultants' reports, with 2 tables on school holding power in the 2 Leflore County schools; (3) a summary of principal findings; and (4) a recommended program of action. Recommendations are concerned with both the improved and redirected use of present resources and the development of new programs which will require additional Federal assistance. (AN) |
