Abstract | In Tanzania there is a shortage of books and materials from other countries, local adaptations and translations of these books and materials, and locally written and produced books and materials. The Tengeru National Community Development Training Center and the Rungemba Adult Center at Iringa need books for students and library as well as the provision of a community development manual for teachers; the five Community Development District Training Centers need books and materials; the literacy programs need follow-up books; the professional and general libraries need strengthening; and educational broadcasting needs to be combined, where feasible, with correspondence courses. (Seven appendixes deal with the topics; School Enrollments; Printers; Estimated Cost of UNESCO School Library Project in Tanzania; Bibliographic Aids for National Library; List of Interviews; Imports and Exports of Books; and Bibliographies.)
