Abstract | THIS RESOURCE GUIDE TO THE TEACHING OF MUSICAL CONCEPTS IN KINDERGARTEN AND GRADES ONE AND TWO IS PREFACED BY A GENERAL ENUMERATION OF OBJECTIVES AND OF THE TECHNIQUES TO BE EMPLOYED IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF A BACKGROUND OF AUDITORY PERCEPTION THROUGH (1) SINGING, (2) KINESTHETIC RHYTHMIC EXPERIENCES, (3) PLAYING INSTRUMENTS, AND (4) LISTENING. THE PRINCIPAL SECTION OF THE GUIDE IS IN TABULAR FORMAT AND LISTS (1) CONCEPTS OF MELODY, RHYTHM, FORM, AND HARMONY TO BE DEVELOPED, (2) ACTIVITIES WHICH MAY LEAD TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE CONCEPTS, AND (3) SUGGESTED SONG MATERIALS WHICH EXEMPLIFY THE CONCEPTS. THE FINAL SECTION OF THE GUIDE CONSISTS OF REPRODUCTIONS OF 11 SONGS SELECTED FROM AMONG THOSE SUGGESTED IN THE PRECEDING MATERIAL.
