Abstract	MUFFIN is a pilot project to increase the number of female researchers at GMD - German National Research Center for Information Technology, to smooth the way from university to employment for female students and to create networks between women working in research. This final report is to present the process and results of MUFFIN from different points of view. Longterm aims could not be achieved after only one year of work, but the intermediate results of the initiated mentoring process can be used as a corrective to further actions. They confirm basic assumptions about the hidden potentials of female scientists and female students. They deliver new ideas to resume the process and give encouragement to future activities in this field. Special attention is paid to the joint groups of mentors and mentees. The view of the steering group is presented and a statement concerning the prospects for the integration of the mentoring concept into GMD's human resources development is given. The success of the project achieved so far is documented in the report on the final meeting. We list important planning and processing aspects for transferring the concept to other research institutes and universities. These are to be summarized in a checklist. The project was presented during several events. The public interest in mentoring concepts has been shown by the outside response to MUFFIN, for instance several articles in printed media. A list of relevant bibliographical references is to complete the report.
