AbstractThis book explores the impacts of transnational education (TNE) from the perspectives of institutions and countries that primarily act as hosts. The authors describe and analyse TNE across a wide geographical area comprised of both established and emerging TNE host countries, from Europe to Southeast Asia to less-discussed countries such as Nepal and Uzbekistan. Complementing the 2018 volume Exporting Transnational Education: Institutional Practice, Policy and National Goals, the book is organised into three principal themes: the impacts of TNE on capacity building, the sustainability of such developments, and the impacts on the student experience in host countries. As TNE is a dynamic and fast-moving area of international higher education, this book will appeal to scholars and administrators of international and transnational education. Vangelis Tsiligiris is Principal Lecturer at Nottingham Business School, Nottingham Trent University, UK. He is the founder of the TNE-Hub and has acted as a higher education policy advisor to the Greek and Maltese governments. William Lawton is a London-based consultant in international higher education. His principal research interests are in TNE, mobility, digital education and policy. He was Director of the Observatory on Borderless Higher Education. Christopher Hill is Associate Professor at the British University in Dubai, UAE. He has worked in the field of TNE for the past 12 years as a practitioner and researcher and has extensive experience with the branch campus model in Asia and the Middle East. Contents: 1. Introduction -- Part I. Capacity Building and Sustainability -- 2. Capacity Building in Transnational Education: A Relational Capital Framework -- 3.
