Abstract | Statistical data and analyses of the adaptive physical education and sport situations and progress rates across the Russian Federation shows both some positive trends and problems with concern to the professional competency of the sector specialists in charge of the socializing service, mental and physical rehabilitation and sport training of the subject groups. A few special studies have demonstrated that the present professional adaptive sport specialist (coach or instructor) training system is not always good enough in application to the health-deficient trainees as verified by the relevant specific standards. Coaches are not always well prepared to duly customise the training process to the morphological and functional specifics of disabled trainees, including, among other things, totally different competitive motivations; different mental and emotional responses to intensive physical activity and difficulties when it comes to complex coordinated motor skills; and different musculoskeletal apparatus control and muscular coordination patterns as compared to their healthy peers. These and other factors urge the sector experts to develop special advanced professional education programs for the relevant specialists with the relevant theoretical and practical provisions for the disabled athletes' training process. Development and consistent allocation of basic industry-specific information within the sections of additional vocational education programs for adaptive physical culture and sports professionals will increase the efficiency of training and competitive activity processes and the preparation of sports reserve for the national teams of Russia in adaptive sports.
