AbstractMordovia State Pedagogical Institute named after M.E. Evsev'yev (MSPI) is highly reputed in the country as a university of strong sporting traditions. It has trained physical culture educators and trainers in a variety of sport disciplines for the last more than 40 years. For this period, the MSPI has trained about 5 thousand highly knowledgeable physical culture, sports and life safety specialists, including Olympic Game Champions (A. Mishin, Greco-Roman wrestling champion; Y. Shvetsov, 3 times London Paralympic Games champion), Olympic Game prize winners, World and European Champions and winners of many other top international competitions: D. Nishegorodov, V. Vasilyev, I. Stankina, R. Rasskazov, Y. Kurina and many others. At the present time, there are 23 MSPI graduates qualified Honoured Coaches of Russia in different sport disciplines; and 7 others qualified Honoured Physical Culture Workers of the Republic of Mordovia. As things now stand, MSPI is the only university in the Republic that provides physical culture and sports specialist education services and theoretical and practical training services for the regional and national physical culture and sports sector. Every year, more than 800 full-time students from the Republic of Mordovia and other Russian regions and CIS countries take course at the Pedagogical Education Department majoring in the "Physical Culture" and "Physical Culture and Life Safety" specialties under the "Physical Culture and Sports Education" Master Training Programs "Physical Culture: Vocational Sport Training" Master Training Programs and the "Natural Science Basics of Physical Culture and Sports" Master Training Program. Practical training, innovative education methods and special education courses duly combined with the theoretical training and practical activity are the key elements of the university training curricula for the future physical educators and coaches. The MSPI graduates hold today leading positions as educators and coaches in the physical culture and sports sector of the Republic of Mordovia. (Autor).
