| Abstract | First check why and how economic concepts were transferred to universities and how far that seems permissible. Within limits these views have to be supported, for the deficits of the University in the 1970s and 1980s had to be remedied. Politicians accepted economic concepts as suitable solutions, without perceiving their limitations. In the narrower field of "students as customers", it is considered that the students occur in a service institution university that it falls under the "corporate concept" as external factors in a service process in the article. Under the conditions of shortage of funds and the mass education, the universities have to adapt to changing conditions. Humboldt's ideals were also hardly accessible in a mass university. The author argues for a conceptual blend of Wilhelm von Humboldt and Adam Smith, from educationally and economically justified theoretical concepts. (HDZD/text adopted). |
