Abstract	The present study is aimed at reflecting upon the realities and challenges that make up the process of training teachers of physical education. Accordingly, there was a brief review of some aspects that permeate the process of education and training in educational settings, as well as discussions on the training processes of special educators. Thus, it was also highlighted the history of physical education, so that knowledge to the understanding of teaching practices and actions developed in basic and higher education. For that reason, it became clear that the critical and reflective model on teacher education is a dialogical design combined with the dilemmas we face every day, constituting a challenge to be conquered. With this type of training, the task of teaching is far more complex and should be developed from the learning that being a teacher requires broad concerns of its context, but without forgetting that its practice needs to be embedded in the education of individuals for the world and for themselves. O propósito deste trabalho foi refletir sobre a realidade e os desafios que perfazem o processo de formação de professores de Educação Física. Para tal, realizou-se uma breve análise de alguns aspectos que permeiam o processo de ensino e formação no contexto educativo, assim como discussões acerca dos processos formativos destes educadores em especial. Destacouse ainda a história da Educação Física, de forma que esse conhecimento permite a compreensão de práticas e ações docentes desenvolvidas no ensino básico e superior. Diante desse quadro, evidenciou-se que o modelo crítico-reflexivo de formação de professores representa uma concepção dialógica e articulada com os dilemas que enfrentamos cotidianamente, constituindo-se como um desafio a ser conquistado. Com esse modelo de formação, a tarefa de ensinar é bem mais complexa e deve ser desenvolvida a partir do aprender que ser professor requer preocupações amplas de seu contexto, mas sem esquecer de que sua prática necessita estar imbricada na educação de sujeitos para o mundo e para si mesmos.
