Abstract | The book starts with an "orientation", in which the editors introduce the issues, contexts and processes of the International Conferences on Adult Education that are organised and convened by UNESCO around every twelve years. In the subsequent chapters 16 authors from different countries discuss aspects of non-formal education in their countries. In the last parts, titled by "comparison" and "preparation", Wim Hoppers "offers a comparative review of country situations across the South, where efforts have been made towards linking formal and non-formal education", parts of Amanda Seels "study of EFA [Education for all] in five nations of East Asia, China, Vietnam, Cambodia, Philippines and Indonesia" are provided and guidelines for data collection as well as "for compiling information on national provision of non-formal education" are offered.
