| Abstract | This is the National Report of Bulgaria submitted to the International Bureau of Education (IBE) on the occasion of the 45th Session of the International Conference of Education in Geneva. Based on Unesco recommendations it offers a comprehensive survey on the education system of the country and pays attention to educational developments, particularly reforms, innovations and hindrances in the period between 1994 and 1996. The section on international co-operation describes bilateral and multilateral relations of this country in the field of education within the European Union and with the Council of Europe as well as with international organizations, like Unesco and OECD.
