Abstract	The national reports of the 12 Member States together make up several thousands of pages. A summarizing exercise was thus necessary. Therefore, the national reports which are published in this book contain the core of the results of the research, namely a brief description of CP (Contractual Policies) regarding CVT (Continuing Vocational Training) in each Member State of the research results and the innovative practices. The general report on the contrary dwells as well on the industrial relations framework in which the CP regarding CVT take monumentum, as on the CP regarding CVT by way of a comparative analysis. The drafting of the general report was equally supported by the Social Partners and by the Force Committee which guarantees a more realistic and balanced approach. The statistical analysis gives some data regarding CVT as they are available at European level, also on the basis of the research undertaken by the national experts. Undoubtedly, here there is also room for improvement and does the study only constitute a first step. (DIPF/ Text taken from preface).
