Abstract | The school concerned has developed a project based around three main axes: opening the school to its environment "the child from his origins to European citizenship"; a methodology centred on evaluation and the differentiation among learning types; the awareness of behaviour to be adopted for a better life within the school. [...] Our objectives are mainly to allow the child: to discover the existence of different codes of communication, which need not be obstacles to understanding; to adopt a positive attitude to language activity; to be aware that the use of a foreign language is a voyage towards another culture; to immerse himself progressively in the language by listening and speaking through functional activities centred around the world outside.
