Abstract | The digital materials that faculty produce for their classrooms often are saved only to storage devices that might become obsolete in a few years. Without an institutional effort to provide access systems, storage, and services for their digital media, are campuses in danger of creating "Disposable Scholarship"? In this article, the author discusses digital information growth and suggests that if digital materials are a critical success factor for higher education, institutions need to consider developing a strategy for providing effective and efficient support for digital media services, including means for ensuring long-term access to their digital scholarship.
