Abstract | With the acceleration of the digitalization process in education, distance education has been common. There has been a significant increase in students receiving distance education, especially in recent years. When a situation assessment is conducted regarding the future, it is predictable that this increase will continue. Especially in the digital era, when the expectations of digital natives and the following digital generations are taken into account, it is expected that educational environments will be more integrated with digital processes. Student readiness is one of the most critical factors affecting teaching efficiency in face-to-face education and elearning environments. In this regard, it is targeted to explain prospective teachers' views on e-readiness levels in distance education in the digital age. Within the scope of this purpose, the significance of e-readiness level in the distance education process, the factors affecting the e-readiness level, and the suggestions for raising the e-readiness level were the questions sought to be answered in the research. Within the qualitative research framework, 50 preservice teachers formed the study group by utilizing the "appropriate sampling" method in the study, which was structured in the "phenomenology" pattern. According to the findings obtained from the data analyzed by thematic data analysis, the level of e-readiness has a significant role in the effectiveness of the distance education process, and factors such as digital literacy and access to technology affect the level of e-readiness. Additionally, suggestions have been put forward regarding management, technique, student, teacher, and economics. As a result of the study, it was found that e-readiness has a decisive role in the effectiveness of distance education. (As Provided). |
