AbstractMany organizations are providing employee training to raise security awareness as data breaches increase. Organizational digital transformation has accelerated, especially during the COVID-19 outbreak. It has made the technology industry a prime target for cyberattacks. Although more organizations invest in cybersecurity training, data breaches due to human errors are still on the rise. One-time training is insufficient to retain the knowledge learned from training, but it is not known how often companies should provide employee training. Therefore, this study's purpose is to find answers to the research question, "What is the relationship between the frequency of respective cybersecurity training types and individuals' information security awareness (ISA) among employees in the U. S. technology industry?" From the target population, 231 participants met the inclusion criteria from the SurveyMonkey audience pool and participated in the survey. Inclusion criteria designate employees over 20 years old, have worked full-time for at least one year, and have completed company-provided cybersecurity training. Survey questions contained the Human Aspects of Information Security Questionnaires (HAIS-Q) based on the Knowledge-Attitude-Behavior (KAB) theoretical model. The software to analyze the collected data was SPSS with Haye's moderated multiple regression process. This analysis aimed to find the relationship between the training frequency and ISA, along with a moderating effect of training type. The results showed a negative relationship between the training frequency and ISA in instructor-led and online training types. The more training participants received in both types, the lower their ISA scores. Cyber fatigue might be the reason for these downward relationships. Cyber fatigue means that overexposure to training makes training tedious and uninteresting. Thus, frequent training lowers employees' awareness and prevents them from behaving safely. Therefore, other training interventions that engage and interest employees are needed to make sure that they are aware and able to respond to cybersecurity threats. This study showed a positive relationship between frequency and ISA in game-based training. However, the sample size was not big enough to be statistically significant. In-depth studies with larger sample sizes for game-based training are recommended. [The dissertation citations contained here are published with the permission of ProQuest LLC.
