Abstract | The effectiveness of an instructional coach is extremely important in the teaching and learning process. The purpose of this mixed-methods study was to determine the current reality of school stakeholders' perceptions of roles, responsibilities, and barriers to effective instructional coaching and to use this information to make recommendations to improve the training of instructional coaches and instructional coaching programs. Theory of Authority, Situational Change Theory, Adult Learning Theory, and the Teacher Leadership Model were all used to design the theoretical framework for this study. The research questions sought to explore the perceptions of teachers, principals, and instructional coaches regarding the roles, responsibilities, and barriers to effective instructional coaching. The design of the study collected perceptions through surveys and interviews. Data discussion of the findings could be beneficial to teachers, instructional coaches, principals, and superintendents seeking to make improvements in an instructional coaching program.
