Abstract | The objective of this audit was to determine the extent to which the U.S. Department of Education (Department) had processes for ensuring that Federal Student Aid's (FSA) fiscal year (FY) 2020-2024 strategic goals, objectives, and related performance indicators were effective. The audit covered FSA's strategic planning and related activities from March 2019 through issuance of FSA's final "Federal Student Aid, Fiscal Year 2020 Through 2024 Strategic Plan" (FY 2020-2024 Strategic Plan) in December 2020. It also included FSA's activities for obtaining feedback from internal and external stakeholders. This report describes the methodology and findings. Recommendations based on the findings, FSA's response to the report, and OIG's response to FSA are then provided.
