AbstractThis research work investigates the problem of "Leadership, and the Ethical Dimension: A Comparative Curricula Approach." The research problem is investigated from the academic areas of (1) philosophy; (2) comparative curricula; (3) subject matter areas of English literature and intellectual history; (4) religion; and (5) psychology. Different interpretations of "ethical value" are given by the following philosophers and scientists: Plato, Aristotle, Hume, Freud, Sartre, Santayana, Dewey, Marx, Mill, Nietzsche, Stevenson, and Ducasse. A survey of English literature shows a common trend with respect to the ideas, human behavior, and institutional structures of ethical value. Basic themes and ideas are listed. Several world literature sources are also cited and analyzed to better understand ethical and moral principles, among them Tolstoy, Sophocles, Milton, and Goethe. The positive trends that contribute to leadership and the ethical dimension are in harmony throughout the globe. Listed are some of the psychological principles that apply to the teaching/learning process in the fostering of leadership and the ethical dimension with respect to world literature. This research work concludes that there are universal principles of goodness in contrast to wickedness, and the individuals who follow the principles of ethics continue to prosper in every way. Appended are recommendations, basic concepts, and 60 references. (SI)
