| Abstract | This collective bargaining agreement between the Los Angeles Community College District and Local 1521 of the American Federation of Teachers (AFT) College Guild covers the period from September 1987 through September 1990. The 38 articles in the agreement set forth provisions related to recognition of the AFT as the exclusive representative, definition of the certificated unit, academic freedom, non-discrimination, board of trustees' rights and responsibilities, AFT rights, work environment, the school calendar, holidays and vacation days, class size, regular and additional assignments, summer session, retention and seniority, department/division chairs, reassigned time, evaluation, resignation, retirement, professional growth, personnel files, personal and professional leaves of absence, life and health insurance coverage, grievance procedures, salaries, wage-step and column placement, committees, replacement, transfers, reassignments, the district's employee assistance program, an agency shop clause, and the conditions and duration of the agreement.
