Abstract | The resource manual examines issues involved in occupational and physical therapy services to exceptional children in Florida's schools. State and federal regulations are cited along with recommendations for best practices in relation to: student eligibility procedures (definition, eligibility criteria, screening, referral, student evaluation, eligibility and placement determination, and dismissal); the occupational and physical therapy plans (methodology and procedures for plan development, staff roles and responsibilities, equpment and supplies, parent involvement); and personnel (requirements for registration and licensing, competencies, certification). The text of state legislation regarding occupational and physical therapy is appended. (CL) |
