Abstract	These five booklets, containing information on how parenting can effect children's school achievement, are part of a series of 22 innovative booklets designed specifically to help parents understand and help their children learn. Booklet #1, "Parents--Teach Your Children to Learn [Before They Go to School]," defines intelligence and suggests activities that parents may use at specific stages of their children's development to enhance intelligence. In "Parents--Learn How Children Grow" (booklet #2), child growth and development from birth to early teens is discussed and specific suggestions about children's needs are made for each age level. "Teaching Ideas for Parents to Use with Their Children" (booklet #3) discusses motivations for learning and the roles played by positive reinforcement, rewards, and time limitations in the learning process. "For Single Parents: Some Helpful Information for Raising Your Children" (booklet #16) provides information on issues such as the effect of divorce on newborns, children, and adolescents; the schools as a resource for understanding and helping children; school problems and achievement of children from single-parent homes; and the special needs of working mothers. Devoted specifically to the examination of the role of Hispanic American parents in the educational lives of their children, "Communicating with Our Sons and Daughters" (booklet #19) holds that communication between parents and children which is based on love, encouragement, confidence, and understanding is the best way parents can prepare their children to meet the challenges of growing up and becoming responsible adults in today's complex and sometimes confusing world. All booklets are written with the same text in both English and Spanish, are easy to read, and include illustrations. (MP)
