Abstract | Presented is an issue-oriented approach for incorporating regional environmental planning concepts into existing secondary school curricula. Part I describes the use of an issue-oriented approach to teaching regional planning. Models for analyzing an issue are presented. Two sample units are included. Part II presents a summary of environmental planning legislation on the federal, state, regional, and local level. A detailed list of information sources is provided. Part III contains a discussion and illustration of the development of an urban study unit as a means of increasing students' sensitivity to various aspects of their environment. (Author/RE) |
