Abstract | This document contains chapter 6 of the final report of the Project on Social Architecture in Education. Five case studies were produced from the data collected at each site, using a common outline developed from the conceptual framework. Chapter 6 is about two schools that emphasized open education in new open-space settings, in a small, suburban district. Each case provides a general overview of the school as it now exists, then backtracks to its early history. The flow of planning and implementation over time is followed closely, with descriptive sections alternating with analysis and commentary. A summary of the school's degree of success, and explanations for it, is followed by commentary from participants in the case and general conclusions. (Author/MLF) |
