AbstractA follow-up survey of graduates (1964-1977) of Greenfield Community College (GCC) in rural western Massachusetts was conducted to outline the graduates' employment and educational patterns. A three-part information gathering process consisted of (1) a mailed survey form and a cover letter from the college president, (2) a follow-up postcard sent two weeks later and, (3) three weeks of telephoning non-respondents ten days after the postcard. Response rate was 42%. Of the respondents, 84% had been employed full-time since graduation, and 98% were employed full- or part-time and/or were students and/or homemakers at the time of the survey. Eighty-one percent of the respondents were currently Massachusetts residents. Of the 82% answering a salary range question, 60% indicated earning over $9,000/year. Of the 61% going on for further education, 59% received additional degrees. Of the 40% of the career program graduates who responded, 85% had been employed full-time since graduation; 65% of these were employed in the same area as their GCC program and 15% in a related area; 47% had gone on for further education, 82% of these were continuing their studies in the same or a related area. A series of graphs outlined employment and salary information for both liberal arts and career program graduates. (MB)
