Abstract | Video modeling (VM) is one of the strategies that may help teachers increase appropriate behaviors among children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD). Children with ASD exhibit deficits in the areas of communication, socialization, behavior, and other life skills. Teachers need strategies that are evidence-based to improve these skills in children with autism. VM interventions need to be conducted systematically to improve target behaviors. In this article, the authors present several steps based on available research and good teaching and evaluation practices. Each step is described in detail and paired with relevant examples. The authors have also added an example of a data collection sheet and graph that can be used for monitoring and evaluating student progress. (Contains 4 figures.) (ERIC). |
