Abstract | New teachers need to know that the connections with a wide web of colleagues and friends support professional growth and well-being. In this article, the authors focus on effective ways to support new English teachers and student teachers by developing a mentoring program. It is more realistic to encourage new teachers to develop a "network of mentors," including experienced teachers from various departments, other new teachers in the same school, friends from university days, former professors, and family members.
