Abstract | Contributing editors Susan Fulgham and Michael Shaughnessy present their interview with David M. Monetti, Professor in the Department of Psychology and Counseling at Valdosta State University. Monetti teaches courses in educational psychology, learning, and measurement and evaluation. He is actively involved with the public schools as a researcher and evaluator of school improvement practices. The interview covers his interest in two seemingly disparate areas--gifted education and technology--because he sees them both as pressing needs in education. Monetti notes that technology is changing the ways all of us interact with the world, and one marker of gifted individuals is the advanced rate at which they tend to acquire new concepts and skills; thus, gifted students will probably learn technology more quickly. Monetti further states that those who are involved and understand technology will have expanded opportunity and access in the future. (ERIC). |
