Abstract | Achievement motivation has played an integral part in the psychology and educational fields. Since achievement motivation made its debut in education and psychology fields, there continues to be some discrepancy in the studies that focused on achievement motivation based on traditional students and adult students. This study investigated the discrepancies or inconsistencies within those studies by examining the potential trends among these students. A survey was used to examine the differences in achievement motivation of traditional and adult students while focusing on enrollment status, ethnicity, and motives for enrolling in college as the key variables of the study. The sample was taken from the community college population located in the southeastern region of the United States.
