Abstract | This report outlines a comprehensive series of recommendations for federal policies and programs related to high schools to improve the quality of high school education and academic achievement for all students. It is based on National Association of Secondary School Principals' (NASSP's) publication entitled "Breaking Ranks II: Strategies for Leading High School Reform." The report offers recommendations in eight areas needing federal support: academic rigor, personalized learning, adolescent literacy, low-performing students, assessments, high quality leaders, highly qualified teachers, and high schools identified as in need of improvement. Rationales for each recommendation are given and expected outcomes are discussed. (ERIC). |
