Abstract | A project was conducted to extend the planning and implementation for performance-based teacher education (PBTE) and competency-based vocational education (CBVE) in Florida by developing criteria according to which programs could be planned, implemented, and evaluated. A steering committee of Florida vocational educators met throughout the 1983-1984 school year both as a group and in subcommittees to develop two major planning documents. The first, entitled "Criteria for Programs," includes 26 primary criteria and 84 specific indicators for use in planning PBTE programs, training personnel, refining existing programs, and developing program evaluation standards. A survey form for the collection of information about Florida vocational teacher educators was also developed. Appendixes to this report include project meeting agendas and notes, results of the survey of teacher educators, a PBTE position paper, PBTE program criteria, and a Florida Vocational Teacher Educator Information Survey Form.
