AbstractThis brochure explains the basic structures, content, and methodologies, which have been established by the Colombo Plan Staff College for Technician Training for its activities in its first two years of operation. The role of a variety of technicians is explained, along with their importance in developing countries. The problems of technician education development are examined with emphasis on several major concerns. A short explanation of the Staff College (SC) is included. The areas of study (planning of training systems, curriculum design and development, and institution planning and management) are discussed. SC courses are described, along with course strategies and courses designed specifically for individual developing countries. Research and development projects are briefly examined. Short descriptions are included of the library and documentation facilities, the College faculty, and funding and aid. Lists include SC governance, governing board, participants in SC courses, and visiting specialists who assisted on SC courses. Charts illustrate the participation pattern in SC courses and in country courses. Photographs of SC staff and course participants accompany the text. (CT)
