Abstract | This publication examines public education in Germany. Section I discusses the foundation of educational policy. The second section treats the institutions of the integrated socialist educational system, including a discussion of: preschool education; elementary and secondary education; schools for the handicapped; vocational training; educational institutions leading to university entrance qualification; colleges and universities; and adult education. Teacher training is dealt with in Section 3. In the publication's fourth section, there is a discussion of cooperation between school, parents, and the political organizations for children and youths. The publication concludes with a discussion of educational research and the pedagogical sciences in Germany. (Author/RM) |
