| Abstract | The organic curriculum is an attempt to meet challenges to education in a systematic way instead of dealing with each as an isolated segment. It proposes to radically change the present secondary educational program in the direction of the learner-oriented curriculum. The objective of the program is to integrate academic training, occupational training, and personal development in grades nine through twelve. Two Chicago Catholic high schools participated in the nationwide network entitled Educational Systems for the 1970s. The local coordinator's main objective was to assist the two schools in becoming more learner-responsive institutions through interaction with the faculty, administration, and students of the schools. As a result of the program, teachers have begun to revise the curriculum and their teaching methods and to write individualized courses of instruction, and the staffs of the schools are aware of the need to implement performance objectives. The major recommendation is that the program be continued because it has made a significant impact on the schools. Appendixes provide examples of materials used in and generated by the two schools.
