Abstract | Starting first as a staff member of Nancy University Center for Economic and Social Co operation (CUCES) in which a lot of trainers of adults made their debuts with Bertrand Schwartz, Gerard Malglaive, who graduated as an engineer in Lyon, joins the Industrial Arts and crafts Center (CNAM) to start the first Centers for the Integration and Training of Trainers (CIFFA). From 1980 to 2000, his action develops in favour of the integration and training of the young, the readaptation of the National Vocational Training College Teachers (ENNA), the training to the new teaching job for the nascent Teachers' Training Colleges (IUFM), the pedagogy of information and communication technologies which are transforming the tertiary economy and the new training programmes for engineers; At the same time, he leads a research laboratory in the National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS). All the way through this itinerary, he advocates for and theorizes on the alternating periods between the professional practice (school, firm) and the reflection on the professional practices, which is the condition for creative adaptation and qualification in the professional world.
