Abstract | In the wake of the reflection about choosing a school system, [the author] discussed the specific case of the Catholic vocational training and the meaning it carries for the students involved. In this article, [he] summarize the results of a survey conducted with eight students of two vocational schools located in Lilie. This survey clearly evidenced to their real however limited choices, marked subjective hardships and alternatives. To illustrate the diversity of the situations and meanings, [the author] worked out three categories of pupils. those who have renounced, those who are resolute, those who have been rescued. [He] also classified the various strategies they use onto strategies of adaptation and emancipation according to the representations these pupils have of career guidance and to their adhesion to social values such as meritocracy and integration.
