Abstract | In this article, the author recommends that coaches develop effective team strategies with their players to get more out of individual players and make them into an effective sports team. This article identifies effective team strategies for offense and defense in soccer, provides coaches with diagnostic tool to assess the effectiveness of their team's strategies in game situations, and proposes a five-step "player-centered" process to assist coaches in implementing practice sessions that develop game sense and effective offensive and defensive strategies with their teams.
