Abstract | Developed measure of adolescent students' perceived belonging or psychological membership in school environment. Administered initial set of items to 454 middle school students and 301 junior high school students. Resulting 18-item Psychological Sense of School Membership scale had good internal consistency reliability. Quality of psychological membership in school correlated with self-reported school motivation and to grades and teacher-rated effort. (Author/NB) |
