Abstract | In an attempt to better understand the need and importance of the community college's role in economic development, this article takes a closer look at how collaboration in the Juniata Valley of Pennsylvania between Industrial Development Corporations (IDCs) of Mifflin and Juniata counties, career and technical centers, and other agencies is focused on working together to establish a community college that would have an economic impact in Juniata and Mifflin Counties, Pennsylvania. Collaboration is a popular buzzword. Although it is often used to describe any time groups of people get together for a purpose beyond usual duties or interests, this case study suggests that established and committed relationships among key players in the region's economy is required in order to sustain a collaboration that is focused on creating a community college.
