Abstract | This collection of papers focuses on applied linguistics and second language teaching. Three of the papers discuss classroom issues, two examine new views and models in second language writing, and one describes the Koge project, which has presented the most comprehensive research on bilingual children in Denmark. The six papers include the following: (1) "Learning (and Teaching) as Well as You Know How: Why is it So Very Difficult?" (Dick Allwright); "Bridging the Gap between Real Life and the Language Classroom: Principles, Practices, and Outcomes" (Leni Dam); "Linguistic Outcomes of a Learner-Centered and Meaning-Focused Classroom" (Lienhard Legenhausen); "An Overview of the Second Language Writing Classroom" (Barbara Kroll); "A New Model of the Writing Process" (John R. Hayes); and "Tosproget Udvikling og Dansk som Andetsprog.
